Team, Kanjorski has done it again. Just when you think he can’t possibly be any more out of touch with Pennsylvania, he manages to do it again. Kanjorski refused to sign a letter supporting Penn State Head Football Coach Joe Paterno’s nomination for the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor a sports figure can receive. The letter, signed by 17 other members of the Pennsylvania congressional delegation – Republicans AND Democrats – was sent to President Obama on Monday. It highlights Paterno’s career as head coach at Penn State totaling 45 seasons, his record of producing scholar-athletes, and more than $4 million in charitable giving to the University. Joe Paterno’s list of achievements – both on and off the field – is pages long. Paterno is more than a football coach. He is a very gracious and generous man. It’s extremely hard to comprehend why Kanjorski refused to sign this nomination letter. Will you join with me in calling on Kanjorski to sign on to this letter?
