Are we ready for Rick Santorum?

Posted by highlysuspect on February 8, 2011 in politics |

I have to say I was surprised at former Senator Rick Santorum. I honestly did not know what to expect last night at the Town Hall Forum, but I am here to say WOW!! Are you kidding me?

It was so refreshing to hear passion, conviction, boldness and sincerity from someone who is obviously educated on issues such as foreign policy, education and legislative procedures. You can really tell the difference between someone speaking from a prompter and someone speaking from “the know”. I guess there actually is a difference between serving 18 years in the Senate versus 2. It was so blatantly apparent that this man knows his stuff and is unafraid to speak his mind, be it a popular mindset or not.

Posted by highlysuspect on February 8, 2011 in politics |

In 1994, when Rick Santorum was a second-term Pennsylvania congressman seeking a U.S. Senate seat, a columnist asked him how he was going to win. “Guns,” he replied serenely. Pennsylvania’s legions of deer hunters do not use assault weapons, which President Bill Clinton was trying to ban, but the hunters suspected that this, like Clinton’s […]

Santorum Talks Low, Aims High : Roll Call

Posted by highlysuspect on February 8, 2011 in politics |

He is a self-described long shot eager to downplay expectations, but former Sen. Rick Santorum’s quixotic presidential bid might not turn out to be so quixotic. Even as his popularity sags at home, the two-term Pennsylvania Senator has quietly outworked the prospective Republican field in three critical early-primary states, benefited from a growing national grass-roots […]

Posted by highlysuspect on February 4, 2011 in politics |

On Tuesday’s “Daily Show,” liberal comedian Jon Stewart flashed a smirk and wondered why the conservative base of the Republican Party is “so easily ignitable.” The comedian hosted former Republican Party chair Michael Steele, who recounted the story of how he had to go about “re-igniting our base” after the party lost the White House […]

Like most government welfare programs, food stamps was meant to be a last resort in desperate times for those who have had drastic difficulties with their financial situation. It was never meant to be a program from cradle to grave nor was it to be a generational thing, passed down like a precious antique. (For […]

Speaking to physicist Michio Kaku on Wednesday’s CBS Early Show, co-host Chris Wragge fretted over the recent series of severe winter storms and wondered: “…nine storms in seven weeks, why is this happening?…a lot of people want to talk about global warming and thinking that that may actually come into play here. Is that accurate? […]
