DILLUSIONAL ENTITIES

Posted by Raw Editor on January 19, 2012 in politics, Will's articles |

Over the past few weeks, I have received countless emails from countless conservative websites, organizations, candidates and other individuals, suggesting, asking and demanding that I sign a petition demanding The United States Supreme Court overturn Roe v Wade, the landmark decision that cleared the way for the legalization of abortion in this country.  Apparently, all of these entities believe the court can just, well, unilaterally act on a petition without having a case to base its actions on.  ( and they tell us Newsweek thinks the American people are stupid! )

I don’t want to give a history lesson here, so, I’ll keep it short.  The United States Supreme Court cannot overturn a past decision on a whim!  It must  hear a case with similar circumstances in order to overturn a prior decision.   I’m not aware of any case that has made it through all of the lower appellate courts, if I’m wrong about that, please let me know.

It seems to me that recent wins by conservatives have had a hypnotic affect on these entities.  They have become dilllusional.  They seem to think its perfectly acceptable for them to ignore the constitution while they condemn the left ( and the left should be condemned ) for their misuse and outright defiance of the supreme law of the land.  These entities might want to consider practicing what they preach, which would be adherence to the constitution.  By refusing to recognize the process by which the Supreme Court must use to render a decision, these entities are showing a lack of knowledge of the process and/or a callous disregard for the system of checks and balances embedded into the constitution by the founding fathers; a group which is supposed to be held in the highest regard by conservatives.  Apparently, that last statement only holds water if it suits a purpose.
