THE PUBLIC"S RIGHT TO KNOW

Posted by will masters on September 30, 2006 in politics, Will's articles |

On january 5, 2006, the body of a man named Jeff kashmir was discovered lying in the street in Olyphant, Pa. He had apparently been run over and killed. This happened between 11:00pm and 11:20pm. Approximately TEN minutes after the body was discovered, the driver of a black Late model Mazda returned to the scene. The young lady sought out the Police and described what happened. She came around a corner, saw something laying in the street, and unfortuneatly did not see it in time to stop and could not avoid hitting the body. The young lady panicked and left the scene only to return TEN MINUTES later. The young lady was taken to a local hospital two hours later for a blood alcohol test. TWO HOURS LATER!
After crash recreations and a “Grand Jury Investigation” this person was charged with DUI, homicide by vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident where a fatality occurred and one other charge which escapes me at the moment. All this despite the fact that Mr. Kashmir was lying in the road when she hit him. I should mention that Mr. Kashmir’s blood alcohol level was more that THREE TIMES the legal limit and he was illegally lying in the road.

I should note that the young lady was not arrested the night of the incident, and subsequently her name was not released to the media. The local newspaper, The Scranton Times took exception to this and over the next few months attempted to pressure the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s office to release her name. Their demands fell on deaf ears. In a last ditch effort the Paper filed papers in court to try to get her name, It cited a Pennsylvania law loosely translated The Public’s Right to Know Act. This request was denied by the court. The young woman eventually released her name on her own.
Thoughtout the  past nine months this newspaper has printed LIE on top of LIE about this case. The LIES range from stories about this woman being arrested the night of the incident to the amount of time that passed before she returned to the scene, and something even more heinus This paper reported that this woman was a relative of an unnamed but extremely powerful public figure! All the time hiding behind their perception of the public’s right to know. Now if the public has the right to know under the law, does that mean that it (the public) has a right to know the truth or does it give the media carte blanche to LIE, like the Scranton Times Is doing in this case?

When will the American people wake up and put a stop to the manipulative entity that has become all too powerful. This case is just one example. We have seen others in the last few years; need I remind you all of The CBS debauckle involving the President?

On a personal note, I was with this young woman that night prior to the accident, I will always believe she is innocent, and some day I will prove it. I don’t care who I piss off or how much imformation abut that night is suppressed , I Know she is INNOCENT! There is a vital piece of imformation that has not been released, sooner or later that imformation will be revealed!

As per usual all comments are welcome as long as their are intellegent and thought provoking and not mind numbingly stupid!

with the information that you provided, she has admitted that she did run this person over, so what would she be innocent of?? and if 2 hours later they did a blood alcohol, and she was still charged with DUI, it appears she would be guilty………..i do know that most news medias, including the paper tend to distort the truth, but wasn’t it reported that the body of this man was dragged 100 feet before the vehicle stopped? At the same time, why was this drunk man lying in the middle of the street?? did he want to die?? was he beat up at a bar and left there?? was he walking home and too drunk to make it???

Amathy, I can’t say too much about this because of my involvement, what I can say is this, the stretch of road this man was lying in would have made it impossible to drag a body 47 yards.approx 141ft roughly. His body was found in close proximity to his home. Where it was discovered by the first person on the scene. Alledgedly. If that is accurate, something else would have to have happened. We will never know beause there was no investigation after she told the police she had a couple drinks.

I will have more on this later, please understand I have to be careful what I say. For the moment.

The paper also reported that she surrendered to police an hour later. That was a bold faced lie! I know this because the first driver on the scene says she was there 20 minutes later. Again, people are going to believe what they want, I will continue to defend her and to fight to clear her! Because I will never believe she killed this man. There are way to many unanswered questions.

I know that you can’t tell everything you know, but didn’t she plead guilty?? I have been doing some reseach the past couple hours out of curiousity, and there was something that said there were 22 witnesses, how can there be so many witnesses at 11pm at night?? Also, the autopsy results and the damage to her car are consistant to what caused his death, according to the media. (I obviously have to rely on the media, because i don’t have access to police files.) Though the person who dropped him off at his house, did not see him go into his home, if they realized how drunk he was, you think they would make sure he made it into his house……… I am not on either side of this by any means, but the more i read the more curious i become.

She plead guilty because she was scared. 22 people testified before the grand jury. Including myself. Romayne, a bunch of his family members and cops. As far as the media reports, they don’t know what there talking about. The injuries were not conclusively tyed to her car. Accoring to the coroner’s report, injury a (I have to use generalities) might have been caused by point a on her car; injury b could have been caused by point b on her car. Nothing conclusive. Keep digging.

Also I did disagree with her decision to plead guilty.

    I really need to sleep.

  • Amathy says:

I don’t think there is much more digging i can do with out asking the police for evidence…….however, the media is not the ones who decide fate, it is the courts…….we as the public are not the ones who get to judge, we can only “gossip”(for lack of a better word), about such things………..

  • highlysuspect says:

In theory the media does not pass ultimate judgement, however they do believe they have the power to do so. Which NEWS STATION has been investgating internet predators as well as illegal massage parlors? And the latter was done without police involvment. The media does not have the right to this. It is not their responsibility.

I repeat what I said the other day; It is obvios something els happened that night. Look at the ultimate outcome!
